Welcome to Knockando Playgroup!

Knockando Playgroup is a small community run playgroup, for pre-school children aged 3 to school age from the remote rural communities of Knockando, Ballindalloch, Dallas and Craigellachie, in Moray, in the North East of Scotland. Based in Knockando Primary School, the group provides the same educational standard as a Council run group, and is subject to the same levels of assessment and grading, however, it relies on fundraising and parental involvement for its survival. Our numbers are small at around 10-14 children but the Playgroup has a reputation for excellence and aims to give children the best possible start in life. As well as creative learning through play, the children learn about art, science and nature, tend their own garden and even visit local farms to learn about living and working in rural communities. Knockando Playgroup is owned and run by the parents of the children who attend.  We organise and take part in fund raising events such as soup and sweets, bingo and quiz nights and even the occasional fun run! Playgroup has an opendoor policy where parents are welcome to come in for a morning session and help the playleaders. Parents can also get involved in the day-to-day running of the group by coming in to help the playleaders, helping with the garden, or with playgroup outings. A Committee is elected from amongst the parents at the AGM, (held annually in June), and the committee ensures the day-to-day running of the group.
