Archiestown 5K 2013 – The start

This year’s 5K was held on Sunday 14th July 2013 and we had 67 runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities participating in the event in glorious conditions. The event was once again supported by the ‘Still Running’ Dufftown Jogscotland group.
This year’s race was won by local lad Kenny Wilson (Moray Road Runners) who set a new course record of 16.50. The first female was Amanda Cruickshank (Keith and District) in 22.33 who has won the event each year since it started in 2011 with her last year’s time (21.56) being the female record to date, Ed Rattray (Dufftown Jogscotland) was the first male Jogscotland member in 22.46 and Marie Third (Speyside Jogscotland) was the first female Jogscotland member in 22.45. These winners were given a bottle of 10yo Macallan each which were donated for the event by The Macallan Distillers. The first junior male was James Newlands (Speyside Jogscotland) in 25.29 and runner up was Archie Bain (Knockando) in 26.07. The first junior girl was Zoe Oag in 25.40 and runner up was Becky Neish (Keith Junior Athletics Club).  A full list of all the results can be obtained here.
A post race buffet was provided by Playgroup Parents, friends and Staff and it certainly went down very well once again.
The gross figure raised at the event to date is £525 and we still have some sponsors to come so we hope that the net figure will be in excess of £600. A big thank you must go out to all those who participated, helped, donated prizes and food and to all those who gave sponsors. This event would not continue to be a success without you. We are very grateful to you and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
