Archiestown 5K Start 2014

This year’s 5K was held on Sunday 8th June 2014 and we had 82 runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities register. This is our biggest entry to date which will be a great boost to the Knockando Playgroup funds. The weather was kind to us again this year but was perhaps just a bit too warm for some.

This year’s race was won by Paul Rogan from Forres Harriers in a time of 16.52, just 2 seconds off the course record held by local lad Kenny Wilson. The first female was Marie Third from Speyside Jogscotland in 22.23 who also scooped the prize of first female JogScotland competitior. The first Male JogScotland winner was Ed Rattray from Dufftown JogScotland in 22.25. These winners were given a bottle of 10yo Macallan each which were once again kindly donated by The Macallan Distillers. The first junior male was Andrew Ralston from Speyplay Flyers in 21.24 with James D Newlands, also from Speyplay Flyers, being runner up in 22.24. The first female junior was Becky Neish from Keith JogScotland in 29.32 and runner up was Jessica Laing from Moray Road Runners in 30.26.4

This year a parent (Donna Canning of Donna’s Delights) donated cupcakes for all those who completed the course. These were no ordinary cupcakes as they had an edible medal on the top. We are very grateful to Donna for providing these and they seemed to go down a treat.

A splendid post-race buffet was provided by Playgroup Parents, friends and Staff which was well received. Our reputation for a ‘good feed’ was upheld once again.

The gross figure raised at the event to date is £630.53 and we still have some sponsors to come so we hope that the net figure will be in excess of £550. A big thank you must go out to all those who participated, helped, donated prizes and food and to all those who gave sponsors. This event would not continue to be a success without you. We are very grateful to you and we look forward to seeing you all again next year when the event will be held around April!

The results of this year’s event are available here.
